The MCA Large Commercial Yacht Code (LY2) provides the details of the radio requirements for The Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS).

This covers all yachts that fall into the following category:

• Large means 24 metres and over in load line length and the Code of Practice applies to yachts which are in commercial use for sport or pleasure, do not carry cargo and do not carry more than 12 passengers.
