The superyacht industry depends entirely on marine conservation to preserve the sparkling, turquoise waters of the Med. Keeping our seas brimming with life for the enjoyment of future generations is the fundamental responsibility of all of us.
For several years e3 has therefore supported the marine conservation charity, Save the Med (formally Asociación Ondine) in their exceptional work towards creating a clean and healthy Balearic sea.
Their work includes awareness, outreach and education, with the Dos Manos Schools Programme helping students across the region get a better idea of the challenges facing the seas and to get them actively involved with reducing plastic pollution.
Save the Med also work with experienced marine scientists, divers, local authorities and other stakeholders to create an effectively managed network of Marine Protected Areas (MPA) across the Balearics involving significant scientific research and survey work.
Their 2018 scientific research expedition in Formentor surveyed 21km of Mallorcan coastline. This work will form the basis of a paper requested by the Balearic Government, to ensure the declaration of the next Balearic MPA is based on scientific data and evidence.
Their short film about the expedition captures our local seas brimming with life. Watch it here
